Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Alongside the nine Grammy awards and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the first few years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. She gave her debut performance at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. After that, she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha's career as a musician and performer is impressive, despite her youth. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. She released her first single album Anourag in the year 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She's played in many important venues across the globe. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biographical picture dedicated to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. She also acted on film in 2003. Her role was a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional is only going to continue to expand and grow. From the age of nine she began studying music under her father, who made her debut on the sitar four years later, at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Accompanying her father as his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as performing alongside George Harrison. Her artistry and musicianship were recognized by British parliament as the best at Asian Arts.
